Surefire – mTOR Signaling

mTOR signalingMammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) is a Ser/Thr protein kinase that plays a key role in cell growth. Dependent on nutrients availability, mTOR initiates signaling that controls activation of key translational machinary, resulting in the translation of specific mRNA populations. mTOR itself is regulated via the PI3 kinase/AKT signaling pathway and through autophosphorylation. mTOR can be de-regulated in tumours, and is viewed as a potential target for cancer.

TGR has developed several assays for the interrogation of these pathways:

  • phospho-mTOR
  • phospho-p70 S6 kinase
  • total p70 S6 kinase
  • phospho-S6 ribosomal protein
  • phospho-AKT
  • phospho-4E-BP1
